Big news of the day....I got a job offer at one of the hospitals in town as a buyer. The down side is that it's only temporary. I'll be filling in for a lady that will soon be on maternity leave. We'll see where this job takes me....hopefully to a full time somewhat permanent job.
Tomorrow will be my last day at Old Navy. It can't come soon enough. I wish I had more money to use the discount to my advantage but that's about all that I'll miss. Some people made it sound like it was a fun place to work...um yeah I didn't really see that. I guess it's only fun there when you don't have any customers.
Today was fun though. I found out just how much people don't like to read. I had two customers today get mad at me over sale signs. One lady was looking at a table that had various sweaters and underneath the table on another shelf there were a few stacks of corduroy pants. I asked her if she needed help and she said she found the size she needed then asked me if the pants were 75% off. I scanned the tag and it had some percentage off but not the 75% off. She then said in a huffy voice "well then why are they on the table that has a 75% sign". I read the sign to her...." 75% off assorted sweaters" no mention about corduroy pants. Then probably 10 minutes later another lady stopped at a table I was working on that had henley tank tops and jeans. The lady stops to look at the jeans and says "are these 40% off?" I told her no...that the jeans were regular price. She then asked me why the sign said 40% off....I then read the sign to her "40% off henley tank tops"....I should find a job where I just read sale signs to people.
Other than reading signs to customers most of my job at the ON involves folding and refolding clothes and putting stuff in the right place. I have come to hate the customers that come in and pick up a shirt, look at it, throw it down pick up the next shirt, look at it and then throw it back down. I also hate the customers that that try to fold the clothes and instead just make a big ball and shove it in the place they think they got it from. When they trained us how to fold clothes they told us they do a 3-second fold. You shake the item out, look at like items and how they are folded and within 2-3 easy flips you have a folded shirt or pant. It's really not hard. I also hate the people that go around shopping and then all of sudden say "oh nevermind...I can't continue shopping here...I'll just leave this stuff here on this convenient table of boys t-shirts. Yeah...I tried giving the evil glare to customers while I'm folding the same damn shirt for the billionth time but most of them don't notice.

Yay Go Christmas!!!!!
Even though this isn't the greatest holiday season I've ever had I still love Christmas! It's definitely more fun when going away on vacation or when kids are involved but I still like it. I wish I had more of an artsy fartsy side to me so I could make stuff (like with a sewing machine) but I enjoy buying stuff for other people. Zac may not like me spending money we don't have but he doesn't know about my secret sugar daddy.
I had to work today at the Old Navy. It was actually a very pleasant shift. People were nice, the store wasn't packed or crazy. I helped one guy out with his shopping and he tipped me $20! Sweet!
And this morning I thought things were going to really suck when my laptop started acting funny. But Zac had the apple geniuses take a look and they fixed it! Yay Go Apple Geniuses!
Soon all you whiners and complainers that hate Christmas can go on to hate something else you old farts!

No more job countdown
I hate you job market.
Y U NO WANT TO HIRE ME? (insert ugly face drawing here) (I will not go and find it) (I hate the word meme)
I have officially applied to over 20 positions. I had gone as far as interviewing twice at one position with high hopes for an offer and then two days ago I read a post that the hospital group I applied for had eliminated 200 positions. Bleh...
I'm going back to Walgreens...they probably don't want me.
Today is the anniversary that our house was broken into. I have Daisy patrolling the property at regular intervals throughout the day with a shotgun that I engineered for her to shoot intruders. I also got the neighborhood stray cats to work as snipers. I have them stationed on the roof and the pine tree on the side of the house. I also booby trapped the backyard with Daisy poop. I also plan to booby trap the the doors and windows in case Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern are in the neighborhood.
Oh and while I'm in this Christmas holiday cheery mood...do you know what I hate right now? People that post on facebook if their friends want a Christmas card to send their addresses.
Update****Daisy has just alerted me to some suspicious activity in the street. There appears to be a dog sniffing around. No doubt that dog is part of the enemy camp looking for weaknesses to my fortress of solitude. Daisy has successfully made it loud and clear that we will not be robbed again. There you go dog, go tell your master.
Back to my previous rant. I will not request a Christmas card from you. If you have the time and enjoy sending out cards I will gladly open them and post them on my wall. If you ask me personally for my address I will gladly give it. It just seems so odd and annoying that people are posting that now. What if you are the type that wants to have 500+ friends and the weirdos and people you don't even know ask for a card. Do you just ignore these people or still send a card? How would Jesus feel if you ignored these people? How many cards or photocards did you buy that you have enough to send to facebook friends that you don't have addresses for?
Just to let my readers know...I did not do Christmas cards this year. I don't have any stamps and the money that I would spend on stamps is better spent on soda. Instead I might post a boring facebook statement wishing you all Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas....Or I might not.

Two months of finding another job
I hit the 2 month mark. I still need a real job.
Zac and I went to my Dad's oncology appointment and so far it sounds like um....the doctors don't quite know yet.
When my dad was in the hospital we heard from Dr. Chen that there were spots on his liver the docs wanted to look closer at. She also told us that his gall bladder was bad and that it "could be" Stage 4 cancer that has spread to his liver and as soon as they could do the biopsy they'd set him up for chemo. Then another doctor in the hospital came in and asked if we had heard when the biopsy would be done, when we told him it would be another 3 days he said he would look at what he could do to move that up since the tumors were numerous and big. That was the first time it hit me that spots meant tumors. Well as we waited for Monday to roll around we found out that he couldn't have the biopsy on Monday because he had taken tylenol for a headache and needed that to be out of his system. So on Tuesday they released him from the hospital. He was still out of it from the stroke, had no appetite and even though he was home we all know the cancer talk was worrying him.
So we've gone from Stage 4 liver cancer and needing chemo to today's discussion about it possibly being benign or cancer originating in his liver. As of right now the doctors are still looking for the cancer.

Days 23-29 of finding another job
A whole lotta nothing has happened so far.
We just had some taquitos, the store bought kind, and I made some pico de gallo using the jalapenos from our plants and holy moly those jalapenos were hot. Normally when buying jalapenos from the grocery store you use one and you might get lucky if it's a little bit hot. I just used two little jalapenos from our plant and I about choked when I tasted the pico.
As for work I last worked on Sunday for about 4 hours.....and that was it for the week. I got my new schedule yesterday. I'm scheduled to work 20 hours...we'll see if I make it to 15 at least.
This coming week will be a little busy. Zac is done with classes just has a couple finals to finish. I work here and there and we've been invited to my nephew's holiday play at his school. We've also been asked to babysit on Saturday night. My dad also gets the results of his biopsy on Tuesday morning and the doctor told my mom someone that speaks English well should be there since the doc has a hard time understanding my mom. My mom was mad, the doc has an accent of her own so I think it's tough for them to understand each other. So the doc remembered meeting me in the hospital and asked if I could go too. Zac and I will go since Zac understood that lady better than I did. We might as well invite everyone we know just to make sure we all understand each other.

Day 21 and 22 of finding another job
I just got home from my 2.5 hours of work at the ON. I walked in tonight and the store was trashed. Because sales weren't good earlier in the week I guess corporate cuts hours throughout the week unless the store beats the daily sales goal. Each day I worked they were missing sales goals by $3,000-6,000. Tonight there was 4 of us that went in at 7:30 to close and we barely made a dent. Originally we were scheduled to close at 11pm and clock out at 12am. Instead we went in at 7:30 closed at 9pm and clocked out at 10pm. Clothes were thrown around and on the floor as if the place was a flea market. Tomorrow I go back in from 11am to 3pm. Since Sunday starts the new week they get a bunch of hours again so there was a sign up sheet by the time clock for people that wanted more hours at night to clean up the store. It seems like this is the constant problem in retail, never enough people working when you need it. I personally would staff my store with more people Thursday thru Sunday, especially during the holidays and cut hours in the morning if needed. But what do I know.

Day 20 of finding another job
Dad update: well it seems everything is wrong with him. We visited him tonight and he looked a lot better. He was more alert and was able to talk to us. We noticed he still has a hard time remembering recent events. So far it sounds like he had a few mini strokes (TIA's) when put all together pretty much add up to a medium size stroke. That explains the short term memory loss and confusion. Now doctors are also talking about cancer so I guess we'll find out more in the next couple of days. It's still hard to keep it all together but it's harder figuring out how to prepare for what comes next. But to be positive it was a good visit with him tonight.
Today I worked at ON. The past two times I've worked my hours have been reduced since ON isn't making its daily sales goals. I just got my schedule for next week and I'm only scheduled for one day. Thank goodness for unemployment. Although today I did get to do go-backs. It was definitely much better than standing around just folding clothes in the same area. My feet didn't hurt as much. And as for having to go to the orientation on Monday at DES I got a phone call today that I didn't have to go since I've done everything at One-Stop and since I'm "working" again. So the lady said she would take me off the list. Then 10 minutes later I get another phone call from DES telling me the same thing. I guess the first lady didn't take me off the list or something. Oh well.

Day 18 and 19 of finding another job
The title is getting old. Maybe after the two month mark I'll just change the title to Life as an Unemployed 30 something.
Yesterday was tough. My mom called me early in the morning to tell me my dad is in the hospital. He has had some dizziness/near fainting spells in the past few weeks. My mom couldn't handle the latest incident so she called the ambulance on Monday afternoon. He's still in the hospital as we speak and there hasn't been any one main cause of what is going on with him. He's had several tests done already and will be going through more the next couple of days. Good news is that tests are coming back ok, he's not in good shape but there hasn't been anything that is a real surprise so far. He has blood clots, one in his leg and one near his heart and we knew he was having problems with blood clots for a couple years now. He's on blood thinners. They found spots on his liver and will be checking that too. The weirdest and worst part is that he has short term memory loss. When we went to go see him last night he looked and acted like he was drugged and it was hard to see him so unfocused.
The whole day I was seconds away from crying. When stuff like this happens I think of the worst and I think of my life without my parents and I get so sad. While visiting my dad last night Zac and I waited in his room while my dad was getting some tests done. As we were waiting a few people wheeled a man into the room next to us. As I looked up I saw the mans face and I knew he had died. The rest of the family was following them into the room next to my dad's. I started crying as people were consoling the wife. I couldn't help myself. I know death is a part of the circle of life but I just think of all the moments that make up life.
I know whatever happens with my dad it will be ok. I think of what others go through and I know whatever news you get in life it can be worked through.
In other news I got a letter from the department of economic security and I have to attend a reemployment orientation next Monday. Oh boy.

Day 16 and 17 of finding another job
Last Wednesday I finally got my first unemployment money on my debit card. On Friday I got my first Old Navy paycheck. Sunday I finally remembered to ask for my check. I love money and wish it grew on trees because I want more of it.
I started watching another show on Netflix called Vampire Diaries. There are only 2 seasons on netflix and I want to see the third season but I'd either have to steal it or pay for it....and since those of you that read Mr. Man's blog know about curbing our cox usage (giggle giggle) I have been told season 3 cannot be procured by unsavory means. I imagine Mr. Man won't like me buying the episodes on itunes or amazon either. Oh well....I'll just have to wait.
If you haven't seen the show...well I don't care...the show tends to have a lot of episodes centered around the town festivities. Every other episode featured the town or school having a dance, a ball, founder's day, masquerade ball, blah blah blah. And the dude that played Boone on Lost plays one of the vampire brothers and all he does for two season is make his eyes go really big like they are bulging out so you can see his piercing blue eyes while he gives you that smoldering look that all vampires have.
Time to go read. And yes I still read the old fashioned way with a real book.

Day 11-15 of finding another job
It's been a rough few days. On Tuesday I had a short work shift but that night I had dreams/nightmares of folding clothes.
Wednesday I went to lunch with the ladies....only it was other ladies than last time. One lady still works at my old job, the other lady/friend got out just in time and managed to get a good job. It was an interesting lunch with the lady that still works at AMO. She seems pretty positive that the company is doing well. Just not well enough to keep on people that were just let go.
Thursday was Turkey Day! I watched a bit of the parade then went to work at 9am. There were already 2 or 3 people camping out in front of Old Gravy. Zac and I were shocked. Later on in the day I heard from our loss prevention guy that mall security ran the ladies off. After my 4 hour shift Zac and I went to my parents house for Thanksgiving Dinner. We got there just in time to eat! And the best part was that my grandmother, aunt, and uncle weren't there! My oldest brother was there with his family and after dinner we went on our walk and then played some loteria. We came home and I attempted to sleep for a few hours but I couldn't. I was so excited to work my first Black Friday!
At midnight I gave up trying to fake sleep and started getting ready for my shift. I worked 2am to 9:30. The parking lot was packed when I got there and there was a line of people still waiting to get into the store. Oh and at Abercrombie and Fitch, which has it's doors open to the parking lot there was guy right in the doorway half nekkid. He was showing his abs off at 2am...um it was chilly and moist outside...I wonder how much he got paid. I walked up to the front of Oldy Moldy and told the security guard to let me in! The place was trashed and for some reason I keep getting placed in kids. The kid section is a pigsty. The shift wasn't too bad until 6am rolled around. By that time I was tired and dragging. By 9am I was ready to roll into a ball and sleep. Finally, 9:30 rolled around and insanity set in and I did some of my own Christmas shopping. I tried to hit up Sears and Macy's but by the time I stepped foot in Sears I told myself I was nuts and decided to go home instead. The rest of Friday we spent watching Netflix. I took a 3 hour nap. We attempted to have something for dinner and then I went to bed at 9pm. It was glorious.
Today I went back to work 11am-6:30pm. But before work I had a call from my Dad asking for the code to get the computer wifi code...is that what you call it? Whatever. So I was barely awake and then I had to wake up Zac...then I had to talk to my dad, my uncle and finally I told them to put my mom on the phone...she understands me even in the worst of moments and me half awake, groggy, and cranky...I know she understands my babble. Then Zac and I made breakfast and I ate in 5 minutes and then went back to Old Baby. Today I got to work in Women's fleece, active and the clearance section....ooh....step up from kids....but I have to admit I would rather be in kids. For my 15 minute break I had a slice of cold pizza. For lunch I had lucky charms. All stuff that was in the breakroom left over from Black Friday.
I go back tomorrow. Yay.....

Day 10 of finding another job
Working retail would be great if there weren't any customers.
It's been ridiculously busy at the Old Navy. I didn't know this when I applied but the Park Place location is the busiest store in the state and in the top 20 busiest stores in the region. I've only spent 2 days working 5 hour shifts and I can definitely feel it. I definitely feel the 5 years of sitting on my ass all day.
I get to work on Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. I just found out my grandma, aunt and uncle will be at my parents so I'm glad we won't be there all day on Thanksgiving. It's hard when they only speak Spanish and my Spanish sucks so conversations are very limited....although I can tell them about sales at Old Navy and that I don't have anymore in the stockroom.

Day 6 of finding another job
Today I finally got a phone call only it was from my mom. My dad has been having a few health issues and had to go in for a cat scan on Monday. We've been waiting to hear the results all week. My parents finally heard back today and thankfully it isn't horrible bad news. If he doesn't take better care of himself things could get worse but right now he needs to go back to a strict diet and take more aspirin until the doctor can come back from vacation and they go over my dad's medication. He also stopped taking a prescribed nose spray that he thinks might be the main culprit of his issues. The past couple weeks he's gotten to the point where he has almost fainted, loss of appetite and the 2nd episode of almost fainting he had a hard time breathing which scared him the most.
I totally was going to tell you guys something else but can't remember anymore.

Day 5 of looking for another job
Yay for evil babies!
Today was going to be my off day. I was scheduled for a few hours on Thursday but surprise I was called today telling me not to come in until Saturday. Oh yay! Another day off!
Day 4 of finding another job
Yesterday was a busy day. I started the day by going to meet my caseworker at One Stop. I don't think the caseworker will really help me the way I need help...unless I want to change careers, specifically if I want to go into the medical field. She told me there was a guy that helps with getting you into Pima Community College and maybe he could give me tips about applying there. I met him and he told me to go on the website and follow the directions. Um thanks...Well even thought that didin't work out so great there are still other things I can use from One Stop like their job developer, resume writing experts and if worse comes to worse they have programs that can help with paying mortgages.
After the one stop meeting I went to my friend/ex-coworker's house to help her set up her email and favorites to include job searching sites. It was fun. I've always enjoyed talking to my friend MJ. She looks like she could shank you at any minute but she really does have a heart of gold. She treated me to lunch for helping her and we had Eegee's! Yay for sugary fruity drinks!
After that I got home and tried to take a nap, since I've been sleeping like crap lately, I had to get ready for Old Navy fun times.
We had another session of training. There were about 5 of us training and we got a tour of the store again and learned how to do the folding. We were then left alone on the floor. 3 hours kicked my butt. It was fun when I had stuff to do but when there wasn't anything to fold in my specific zone I got bored. And it turns out I was the only person that spoke Spanish so guess what else I got to do....I got to practice my spanish. After that Zac picked me up and we had dinner in the food court....aahhhh.
After coming home I wanted to write my blog but the internets wouldn't work! So I went to bed.

Day 3 of finding another job
This stupid song has haunted my dreams the past few nights and I can't get it out of my head. The song was part of an Old Navy training video.
One good thing about this video is that people know how to spell glamorous now.
On the agenda today is to clean the house and work on some applications and resumes that my caseworker can help me with tomorrow.

Day 2 of finding another job
Today was a rainy day to stay inside and watch tv all day. Not much different than any other day.

not sure what the title should be now
Now that I have a job I'm not exactly unemployed anymore but this doesn't exactly mean the search is over... so now it's Day 1 of finding another job?...
I'll think about it.
So today I had orientation at Old Navy. It was about 5 hours of filling out paperwork, watching cheesy videos, and learning rules and policies. There were about 10 of us newbies and I was probably the oldest. It was cute hearing some of the girls talk about high school and how excited they were to have this job. I thought I should wait a few days before I tell them that school doesn't get them anywhere except for a part time job at Old Navy at 31. I don't want to crush their spirit so soon.
Before the orientation started I walked around the mall. Nothing was really open and my plan was to sit in the middle where there used to be big comfy chairs. Surprise! Santa's Winterland is being set up. I ended up in the food court watching the old people that walk the mall, teenagers getting ready to wreak havoc in Hot Topic and then I saw two guys dressed in that all too familiar blue Sears auto-shop outfit. It brought me back to the days of when Zac wore that outfit all the time. I decided to start heading back to the other side of the mall when I passed the main entrance to the theater that was closed and sitting directly across from the movie entrance was a guy sleeping away his waiting time wearing a grungy green sweatshirt with a death grip on a huge empty popcorn container. I don't blame him, movie theater popcorn is delicious and deliciously bad for you!
I'm excited for all the people watching and silent judging I get to do! Like one kid was wearing a beanie and had those butt plugs in his ears. And all I can think is that he has to have lice by now I bet he wears that beanie all the time and his head gets all sweaty and bugs are crawling around making babies and then they get to his ears and eat all his ear goo and then go into his brain. I know stuff doesn't work like that but it amuses me. Another girl was wearing a red and black flannel with grey leggings. Luckily for me and my eyes, she had the body for it but still it looked like she was wearing her long johns to work. And by luckily for me....no I'm not a lesbian...yet...but what's worse than a skinny girl wearing leggings with a top that barely covers her butt is a chubby girl wearing that same outfit. The outfit really should be banned along with Uggs and rainboots in Arizona.
Oh and a story from my ladies that lunch event. One of the ladies is in the process of paying back a payday loan she took out some time ago. She found out there is some sort of insurance or something that you can get while on unemployment that keeps creditors from making you pay or give you some sort of grace period. Not really sure how it works but the point is that she had to get extra paperwork and have HR from the old job fill out a portion and then there was some waiting period of 4 weeks before she could take it to some agency across town. So she got the paper all filled out by HR and this past Thursday she went across town to the agency to give to them so they would have it first thing Monday morning. When she told the lady at the agency why she was bringing it in early the lady told her they couldn't even accept it since it had been dated already, the paperwork shouldn't have been filled out till after the 30 day mark. My friend asked if she could just white out the date and the lady said no, she had to destroy it! The lady printed out new paperwork and gave the sheet to my friend who now has to wait till Monday to go back and get the HR people to sign the paper and make the trek across town again! That would suck!

Day 30 of unemployment
Well it's the 30th day and guess what? I got a job!
Before you all start celebrating, it's not my dream job or a full time job with benefits. It's at Old Navy for the holidays. I'm happy though. It's a start till I hear back from some other places.
Hopefully these other places call soon!
Oh and today was lunch day with the ladies!
We met at Chili's and it was packed for Veteran's Day. It was fun though gabbing with my old coworkers.

Day 29 of unemployment
The video has nothing to do with anything I'm going to say.
Things of interest from today:
Daisy's tummy hurt. She ate grass. I'm assuming at some point she threw it up. And she farted, burped and made funny noises most of the day.
I started My Name is Earl and Vampire Diaries on Netflix. This is another journey I have decided to take.
I've also started doing crosswords online. Which reminds me I need to start today's crossword puzzle.
I finished my book The Black Dahlia. I need to start another one.
I stayed up late last night listening to Zac practice his presentation and am glad it's over and that Zac can now play his video games for the rest of the weekend.
Friday I wall be lunching with ladies.

Day 28 of unemployment
Getting close to the month I gave myself!
It feels like it has gone by really fast.
I don't think I ever let you all know the exciting news that I did in fact finish That 70's Show. It was an enjoyable experience and quite a journey. I have come away with wanting to shout out "BURN" a lot.

Day 27 of unemployment
Today's blog is number 351. Wow!
And that is the big news of the day.
I'm pooped right now. I did a ton of laundry, vacuumed the stupid area rug we have in the living room the hard way, and brought out all my winter clothes that I had stored away.
Vacuuming the rug the hard way means using the stupid attachment to pick up all the dog hair, so I spend about an hour with the tiny attachment. Unfortunately, I have two vacuum cleaners and neither of them suck hard enough to use them the easy way. Stupid vacuums.
And winter clothes just means getting all my cardigans and sweatshirts out because really thats all we need here. It's been pretty chilly these past couple of days. There was even some snow on Mt. Lemmon and inside the house it's 64 degrees.

Day 26 of unemployment
Today was a One-Stop day!!!!!
At One-Stop a group of us had intake today. I didn't know what this meant so I was surprised to find out we had to take tests!!!!
The first test took about 45 minutes and it was like being back in school again taking those standardized tests. We even had scantron sheets. The tests measured basic reading, math, and language skills. Then after the tests were graded we had to take the next portion of tests. Depending on how you did on each section there was a different book you had to look at. I had the A book the whole time so I guess I did well on each section. I don't know. The second test each section was timed. The reading section took 20 minutes and two math sections took 15 minutes each and then Language took about 25 minutes. The math section kicked my butt! Who remembers how to calculate the radius and cubic inches. I always sucked in that area.
Anyway I sat next to one of my ex-coworkers and she kept finishing each section way before me. I was getting nervous that I must not know my stuff anymore. Later I found out that she just guessed on a bunch of stuff she didn't know. Made me feel better.
Now I get to meet with a case worker next Tuesday morning and go on from there. The adventure continues!

Day 25 of unemployment
Today was exciting. I'm on the 8th season of That 70's Show. I had no idea there were 8 seasons and that Eric and Kelso aren't even part of the last season!
I made breakfast this morning which is different than any other day because Zac was here too. Daisy also managed to scare away a little girl opening our gate with a little red wagon. The little girl must have never seen Daisy before to be scared away by her bark. The neighbors with the annoying girls are still at the house. I don't get why they aren't all gone. But now one of the girls is on crutches. I don't see a cast so I'm guessing it's just a sprain because later on in the day one sister was chasing crutch girl saying that she needed to go back to the hospital. Crutch girl seemed fine running around without her crutches.
Later we went to get haircuts. My hair was getting long and uneven with a ton of split ends and Zac wants to look nice for the college girls. Now my hair is happy that all the gross stuff is gone. After our haircuts we went around the corner to a 99cent store. This store had crap stacked up so high. I just wanted some 99 cent bodywash. As I was paying I noticed the wall behind the cashier was filled with cigarettes, hookahs, bongs and water pipes. While I myself have never used such items I'm no stranger to what they are and now I know where to buy them, unfortunately they aren't 99cents.

Day 24 of unemployment
So today was more exciting. I washed dishes and finally made the pumpkin spice bread.
OH BoY!!!!
But things are more exciting for other people in facebook land. One guy posted his truck was stolen this morning with all his work tools and his tickets for the Cardinals football game. He knew who the culprit was and from the sounds of it, the thief appears to be some jealous and crazy girl. He even went as far to name her so of course I went and looked her up. I don't know her but it's still fun to see how crazy other people are!

Day 23 of unemployment
I totally forgot to blog yesterday. Not that anything of importance happened. In fact I don't really remember what happened. All these days are beginning to blur together.

Day 22 of unemployment
So I'm about to sell my soul and start an application and resume for Toy R Us. But to procrastinate a little, let me tell you a story....
When I still had a job my coworker MJ and I would chat throughout the day. One time she told me that her goddaughter's grandma was getting married to a really rich guy and she was invited to the wedding. Through details I gained in later conversations the grandma was like in her 50's and the rich dude she was marrying was in his 80's. G-ma was so happy to get married and Rich Dude was totally excited to have a young thing on his arm. Rich Dude made promises of true love with buying his new bride a beautiful house with a pool. Once they were married everything changed. G-ma claimed that Rich Dude was different, he was controlling and mean and asked G-ma way too many questions about what she was doing and where she was going.
A month or so later they divorced or got an annulment because they didn't consummate their marriage. Apparently the Rich Dude could never get it up.

Day 21 of unemployment
Geez, it's ridiculous that I keep forgetting to write a blog. It's not like I have much else to do except for the tasks I give myself.
Today I spent most of the day filing papers and shredding. I'm pretty sure I did other stuff I just can't remember much right now.
Oh yeah I did dishes and swept. Is that really it? I feel like I'm missing something.
My next One-Stop excursion isn't until next Monday.
My month I gave myself is coming up fast! Crap.

Day 20 of unemployment
Halloween came and went.
We were party poopers. We didn't go anywhere instead we turned off all the lights and halfheartedly watched a scary movie.
We don't even have candy.
So we just started spying on the neighbors b/c a new shouting match started. Daisy was so desperate to look out the window she kept jumping on the wall and wasn't satisfied until Zac picked her up so she could see out the window. She's our chismosa (means gossiper in Spanish)!

Day 19 of unemployment
I've got a new obsession, the neighbors.
Across the street from us lives a family that is crazy. It's a household with a single father and 4 girls all probably under 13, the youngest looks like she could be about 8-10 and they also have a puppy.
Randomly and sometimes a few times a day we'll hear screaming, crying, yelling, shrieking, and cussing coming from that house. We only know the name of one of the girls. Her name is Alison. The only reason we know her name is because she seems to be the one that gets yelled at the most.
For a while since they've had the puppy the most drama was when the puppy would escape. The girls would run after the puppy and the dad would be yelling from the front door at his girls to get the F'n dog. One girl would be on her bike trying to herd the dog back into the yard while the others would try chasing the dog. It was pretty comical. The dad rarely ever helped and it took quite some time for him to actually go beyond the door to help but he never stopped cussing and yelling at his girls to get the F'n dog.
Sometimes sibling rivalry would rear it's ugly head and the girls would fight with each other. Calling each other stupid and fat.
One time I even saw one of the girls climbing on top of one of their cars.
Well this past Saturday there was extra screaming all day. Two of the girls were going nuts and one of them was Alison. At one point all the girls ran out into the street yelling at each other and one girl hit/slapped Alison in the face. Every single cuss word they knew was being yelled with the F word being their favorite. The dad was yelling from within the house telling them something. At one point the two girls looked like they were really going to get into it right in the middle of the street but Alison seemed to just take the punches.
In the afternoon it seemed like they were coming and going a lot. Then around 6pm to our surprise and sheer delight there was moving truck in their driveway! There was also a taxi sitting out in front of their house. It was all very odd but we aren't convinced that they are totally gone yet.
Today I looked out while I opened the curtains in the bedroom and noticed all of sudden there are two dogs in that yard and neither of them look like their puppy. Then the taxi was there and it looked like the dad got out of it went up and pet the dogs and then got back in the taxi and drove it away.
So I wonder if the dad is a taxi driver now? Are they moving away or did he sell the girls or move them into an insane asylum? Are the dogs there now to takeover for his missing children? So confused!

Day 18 of unemployment
We went to my mom and dad's house today. We were fed cocido, quesadillas, rice and beans. YUM!!!!
Yeah that was the highlight of the day.
Oh and Zac got me on stumble upon and I'm hooked to that now. I've seen so many DIY pages and I'm in love with them all. And I found a lot of good sewing blogs and sites for when I get my sewing machine. I want to make curtains, skirts, purses and all kinds of fun stuff. And then make matching pink cowboy, cowgirl, cowdog outfits!

Day 17 of unemployment
This is why I want to learn how to sew. So Zac and I can be all matchy matchy when we go out in public.
Zac thinks that if I get a sewing machine it will just sit in the closet untouched and it will be a waste of money. Pro-I'll still get my sewing machine. Con-I don't have a job so I won't buy it right now.
But when I do....whoa nelly Daisy and Zac better watch out! I'll make awesome outfits for all of us!!!!
No plans for today yet...other than watch more of That 70's Show...maybe make some pumpkin spice bread (it's the Costco mix kind....don't get all excited thinking that I'm actually learning to cook and bake over here).

Day 16 of unemployment
I almost forgot about the blog.
The most exciting thing about today is that my old HR dept f'ed up my severance pay. I was supposed to get 7 days worth of pay today through direct deposit and when I checked my account I only got 3 days worth.
The HR lady called me when she had a chance and confessed that she mixed up the weeks and pay. Nice job lady!
I was nice to the HR lady but I've heard that she's made so many mistakes and I don't get how she's been there for so long making all the mistakes.
Whatevs....I finally got a phone call around 4 from the HR lady saying that the rest of the severance that I was supposed to get for this pay period was loaded to the debit card they gave me when they laid me off.
Give me my money b's!
****who would want to R her?*****
I crack myself up.

Day 15 of unemployment
Day 2 of One Stop Employability Skills workshop! Thank God it's over!
While it was very educational and informative I could have done without some of the characters. One girl was late for everything, never paid attention, and asked the dumbest questions.
Today was all about applications, resume writing and interviewing. Tidbits I'll pass along to you all..
For Applications:
-spell out street, road, boulevard (ex: 5000 E. 22nd Street)
-keep abbreviations to a minimum
-instead of leaving boxes empty put in N/A
-once you have a higher degree than a high school diploma no one will ever ask to see your high school diploma or GED
-when asked for supervisor/title you should write in Human Resources since in most cases calls to check on employment will be referred to HR
-don't give social security number until offered the job, you can fill the spaces with 0's, 4's or 7's
-if you don't want the new company to call your current employer b/c you don't want your current employer to know you are looking for a new job check NO to do not contact employer.
-Never write that you've been fired, instead say job ended or seeking career advancement if asked during the interview what happened just stick with job ended.
-you should only put down 5-10 years of work experience never admit to over 10 years. Employers think anything over 10 years doesn't mean anything anymore because things would be outdated. Even employment dates only go back 10 years even if you've been at the same job over ten years instead list different position as separate jobs if within the same company.
-If the application ask for hourly rate or salary range you don't have to put anything down. You don't talk about money until you are offered the job. Instead put in 0's or if the job description has a pay rate for example like $12 hourly rate and your last job paid $18 put in $12 if you are ok with that. Employers are not allowed to ask your past employers about your pay rate.
-under job tasks use the job description to list the skills they are looking for
For Resumes:
-Objectives are out...HR people think they are lame.
-the one stop people really like functional resumes, use chronological resumes for people that have jobs in the same line of work
-don't put dates of graduation unless it's been within 5 years
-don't put References available upon request
-don't use "I" or " responsible for...." on resume
Cover letters:
-do not ever write To Whom It May Concern: or Dear Hiring Manager, always put in someone's name
Interviewing:
-Packaging is 45% (Appearance)
-Responsiveness is 35%
-Skills 10%
-Miscellaneous 10%
Obviously I learned the most about filling out the application. Later on in the day we had to practice interviewing each other in front of the class.
I have a little certificate now....awesome!
Back to watching tv tomorrow!

Day 14 of unemployment
Today was One Stop day!
The workshop went from 8:30-3:30 and for the most part it was interesting. I heard a lot of stuff I already knew but met other unemployed people that made me feel better about myself. There was also a fair share of annoying people that like to talk about themselves a lot.
They did not feed us so that was disappointing.
We also found out why we have to sign in and wear name tags every time we go into the building....it's all because of Jared Loughner. Apparently, 2 months before the shooting he had gone into One-Stop and another building close by wearing a trench coat and just walking around the building staring at walls and just walking up each floor. It wasn't till finally someone asked him if he needed any help and got his name that later a connection was made. Since then they've been asking everyone to sign in and wear name badges. Supposedly, if you aren't wearing a name badge and someone asks you who you are they'll ask you to leave.
In class today we learned about skills we have. Did you know the average person has between 500-800 skills? Most people think they only have about 15-40. I'm not sure if sexual skills count here...they might. We learned how to identify our top skills and personal and work place accomplishments. We ended with a motivational video from Les Brown. Today was all about gaining confidence in selling ourselves. Tomorrow we go back for more. Hopefully, I won't be sitting next to cologne boy again.
***Oh and we did have homework Dave! But not writing the 500-800 skills. We had to come up with an elevator speech, 2 historical figures we'd invite to dinner and why, and fill out an application for the county.

Day 13 of unemployment
One of the things I love love love are Halloween episodes on sitcoms. They are usually good. I'm watching an episode of That 70's show and they are doing a bunch of Hitchcock films for their Halloween episode. Vertigo, The Birds, Rear Window, North by Northwest, Psycho and probably others but I haven't seen them enough to know.
Yesterday I activated my unemployment debit card. No money on it yet but it's good to go when I do get cash.
Wednesday and Thursday I get to go to One-Stop...yay!

Day 12 of unemployment
Oh so you want to know about the banana bread.
Well it's half gone today so I'd say it came out pretty good.
The morning so far has gone by quickly.
Couldn't really sleep last night...it's weird. Sunday nights I always have problems sleeping because I'm usually thinking about the week ahead at work and now I'm thinking about the week ahead looking for work.
As for positives, I'm making quite a dent in That 70's Show.

Day 11 of unemployment
How cute is this kid? Stole the pic from Huffington Post and I think they took it from Reddit.
I'd give this kid all the candy.
Day 11 has been a bit more eventful. While Zac was out studying with his study group I went to Walgreens and grabbed the Sunday paper. Then when I got back I talked to my mom for probably an hour. Then as Zac was on his way home I tried to scramble and clean a bit and make him something to eat.
Oh and I brushed Daisy's teeth with chicken flavored doggy toothpaste. Lucky dog!
Banana bread is next on the agenda.

Nothing new to report. Took some nice long naps. Talked to my Dad.
Maybe something exciting will happen tomorrow.
Ooohh....I'm planning on making banana bread tomorrow....yum!

Day 9 of unemployment
Last night we had tacoritos(tacos/burritos) for dindin. It was delicious!
We also watched the UofA vs. UCLA football game and it was fantastic. For those of you that don't care at all what I'm talking about I'll tell you more! UofA has really been sucking this season. We only won 1 game this season and that was against NAU which is like beating the sad little wimpy kid down the block. All the other games were horrible. We'd have little spurts of things going right and then when it counted complete let down!!!!! Nick Foles, the quarterback, couldn't get shit going and the placekicker couldn't kick a measly field goal or the extra point and we had 2 kickers!!!! Well because everything was going so bad they fired the head coach about two weeks ago and moved up assistant coach Tim Kish to interim head coach. Last night was the first game since Stoops was fired and well UofA kicked ass. I don't think UCLA is that great either but whatever....The last 4 seconds of the first half were crazy though. First a ref blew his whistle and all the refs were trying to stop the play and figure out what happened when the original ref that stopped the play comes walking into the middle of the hubbub and you realize he's not a real ref, the guy starts running off and as he's running off starts taking his clothes off as a cop is chasing him! And then in between all of that the football players all start fighting and you see a ton of guys coming off the benches running onto the field. 2 players were ejected and it was all quite ridiculous but it was definitely worth watching. They used a new guy John Bonano to kick and he was AWESOME! Kind of sucks that they had such a great game without Stoops but then maybe Stoops was really bringing the team down...who knows.
Well today I have to work on updating my resume....again. We'll see if this job lead goes anywhere.

Day 8 of unemployment
Not much has happened. All the days are starting to blur together. The excitement of going to the dentist on Wednesday was too much for me to handle. It was probably the fastest appointment I've ever had since they only had to put in the permanent crown. Very odd sensations as they put the cement stuff on whatever was left of my old tooth. The dentist is a whole other headache. Insurance still hasn't paid for the wisdom teeth extractions I had done in June. But with that procedure I'm pretty sure I went over my allowance. So I never should have done the crown but I didn't think of that until I got the bill. So now we are still waiting for insurance to pay off the wisdom tooth and see if there will be any money left over to pay the crown. I've been paying my share but told the dentist that I needed to make payments now since I just lost my job. They agreed to do a $100 a month. I really do like this dentist. I hope I can afford to go to them again in the near future.
Thursday I had to put in the claim for the week ending 10/15. I got a nice little email saying they'd give me till tomorrow to put in a claim for that week. I guess they act pretty fast with unemployment. Unfortunately I won't see any money for another 3 weeks probably. I also got my debit card that my unemployment monies will be loaded on.
What else....can I bore you all with.....? I guess onto the next blog.

Day 7 of unemployment
This morning was full of fun and excitement. I got out of the house for a couple hours. I went to One-Stop today to attend an orientation for their services. One-Stop offers services for the unemployed and today's orientation was specifically for people that have been recently laid off. There were about 22 of us attending the session. It was quite interesting to hear where all these people worked. One was from Tucson Medical Center as a medical clerk. One worked for TUSD as receptionist, another as a teacher within TUSD. There were probably 4 or 5 that worked for some company as architects and engineers.
The main point was to hear about how they can help us get a new job. I'm signed up for an employment skills workshop next week. The workshops are next Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30-3:30...I wonder if they give us lunch....that is probably wishful thinking.

Day 6 of unemployment
These allergies are killing me. My eyes are so itchy and this is getting so annoying.
I finally got the Halloween decorations out and decorated the yard a little more. I wonder if kids still toilet paper trees and egg houses. I've never actually seen it done before. My brother wants to do a little haunted house at his place this year for Halloween and it sounds like fun. It'll be interesting to see how they pull it off.
Yesterday my old supervisor called me. It was very awkward with me leading the conversation after a while because he is so slow at getting to the point. The main reason for calling me was to ask if I still wanted the fan I had on my desk and to ask if I wanted a certificate for completing some training. He mentioned one of the girls asked about this stuff as they were cleaning our areas. I'm pretty sure the girl pestered him in making sure I didn't want these things because the girl is pretty persistent. I felt bad for him still being there, I can't imagine the job is getting any easier.
I also got all the information for unemployment in the mail yesterday. There were probably 5 separate letters all asking for different information and everything needs to be filled out right away. I've never done unemployment stuff before, it seems exhausting. I also got the packet for Cobra insurance and that seems ridiculous too....pay $500 to be insured when unemployed...craziness!
I think I'll go down to Armory Park and join Occupy Tucson....I think I'll become a hippie today.

Day 5 of unemployment
I had a dream I got lost in a Costco/Ikea like grocery store and that the day before something happened with the matrix but only a few people knew about it.
I don't even remember what the movie The Matrix was even about but it happened in my dream.
Back to reality...I'm still unemployed and sleepy as fuck. Honey Badger is here with me.
The past week or so I've had the worst allergies and have been trying to take pills that will help me stop sneezing every few seconds. I think as a result of all this pill popping I've been extremely drowsy lately either that or I'm falling into the downward spiral of depression from not being able to spend money at Old Navy.
Along with the pill popping I've been putting vicks around my nose to keep my nose from getting all chapped and gross. Last night while at my brother and SIL's house my SIL let me use some ointment that she picked up at Whole Foods. You put a small dab under your nose and it's supposed to clear up your sinuses. Well I put a dab under each nostril and right away it was working but then a few seconds later the areas where I put the ointment started burning and I was sure that this stuff was acid and was going to eat right through my skin. Then the pain went away a few seconds later.
So yesterday we took Daisy out to our local QuikTrip. We wanted to get the Sunday newspaper for the coupons and decided a walk would do us some good. Um yeah the walk was ok except for the 98 degree weather we still have! Poor Daisy girl was so glad to be home. She just plopped right down on the floor next to her water bowl and lapped up some water by only moving her head a few inches. She's never done that after a walk!
Later on in the day like I said earlier we went over to my brother's house and carved pumpkins with the kids, we had dinner there and then we helped decorate their porch for Halloween. It was a lot of fun.
So on the agenda for today....eh...who knows. Eventually I'll do something useful. Although I do feel wanted in the employment front. I got an email for a jobvite and then a phone call from Chiquita of Chiquita banana fame for a position as a vendor managed inventory planner dealing with Safeway stores....only the job is in Phoenix. Damn you Phoenix!!!!!

Day 4 of Unemployment
I'm already bored with this subject. I still don't have a job and it's been forever.
I've decided to become an alcoholic. When we were rich and had jobs we bought alcohol to support our habit of spending money. I have some Ace Pear Cider, chianti, whipped cream vodka and habanero infused vodka to get me through these next couple of days. We also have passion fruit and banana mixers and really I just want to drink the banana mixer by itself, it smells delicious.
There are some good things about not being employed at that place that shall not be named. On Fridays we always had a backorder meeting. Shoes would start at 9am and report on our biggest issues. The VP would always look like he was bored out of his mind and would always suggest how to make the report better for him. Then the rest of the meeting we would be told we need to cancel orders and push out dates. I also don't miss having to work on the millions of spreadsheets that we had to fill out to get our vendors paid.
So back to my exciting life....yesterday our big adventure was going to the grocery store. The closest Fry's is the Mexican one. I'm not being racist....it's really the Mexican one because across from the deli they have an area where you can buy freshly made salsa, salads, ceviche, horchata, mexican cheese, nacho cheese and around the area you'll find locally made tortillas and pan dulce. And in the seafood/meat area they have meat for carne asada and chorizo. I love this Fry's, I don't care if it is the poor Fry's....now we fit in and it's like everyone in the store knows we are poor now and they all high five us as we walk around. So they didn't actually high five us....we're lucky if they don't even look at us because we might get shanked otherwise.
After our grocery store adventure we went home to eat dinner and watch some scary movies. Maybe the movie reviews will make it to Shoot the Hostage...maybe not...we've been watching a shitload of scary movies. And with a shitload of scary movies comes a lot of stupid shower scenes and a crapload of boobies. My favorite shower scene so far was a shower scene with guys...not that I wanted to see a bunch of nasty guys taking a shower but because Mr. Man over here got pissed that the one shower scene had guys not girls.
Now it's Sunday morning and we had a wonderful breakfast of chorizo, eggs and potatoes (thank you Mexican Fry's). Later on today we'll have another adventure one involving a walk to the local QuikTrip and another to my brother's house where we will help them decorate and carve pumpkins!

Day 3 of unemployment
I didn't do any of the things I set out to do yesterday. Go ME!
Instead I watched Starstruck and a few episodes of Raising Hope.
Most of my time was spent answering emails and texting two of my coworkers that were also laid off. As a result of getting laid off we are referred to a place called One-Stop. They help you with your resume, job training, and getting unemployment benefits. I want to go with these two ladies in hopes that we can all be on the same page and help each other out. I called One-Stop then I spent the rest of the day waiting to hear back from the two ladies on which time and day was best to go to an orientation session. I finally had things all figured out by 5pm yesterday and on Monday I have to call One-Stop back and confirm which session we'll be attending.
I also took Daisy on a 40 minute walk about the neighborhood and she was exhausted the rest of the day...poor pup I make her do so much.
This morning I did finally put in the applications to the UofA.
So I guess now it's just those Halloween decorations and lunch!

Day 2 of unemployment
I figure this will keep me busy for a few minutes each morning until I find a job. I've given myself a month to get a new job....not necessarily better...just new. I figure if I get a crappy job at first it'll at least be something till I can find a job I'd be happy with or pays better. Let's hope this plan works.
Let's see since I've been laid off I've seen quite a few movies and tv shows-
-a few episodes of Arrested Development
-2 episodes of Melissa & Joey
-1 episode of Wizards of Waverly Place
-In a Day (not sure what this movie is about, wasn't paying attention)
-Dream A Little Dream (with the 2 Corey's-lame)
-I Do (not exactly sure what happened in this movie either)
-The Baxter (it was ok)
-happy ever afters (strange)
-16 to Life (I liked this movie)
-These Girls (3 girls devise a plan to all have sex with David Boreanez's character)
-love wedding marriage (eh...it was eh..)
-Haunting in Connecticut (made me jump)
And just so you know I've been working on applications and/or cleaning while watching these. So I'm not just laying on the couch eating bon bons watching these movies!
Yesterday I put in 2 apps online for Costco and Target. I wouldn't mind working at Costco, I hear they treat their employees right and I guess I could see myself working at Target as long as it takes. I mean I'd probably want to buy everything while working there but I could handle it.
On the agenda today I want to put in apps at the UofA, I mainly have to work on stupid letters of interest for each position I'm interested in so we'll see how far I get. I really hate writing Letters of Interest and Cover Letters....they are so lame.
Yesterday I also started with Halloween decorations, front gate is covered in spider webs and there are skeleton heads on our little porch. Today I'll have to get the rest out.
And then I guess I'll work on looking through the mail basket and looking for coupons for top ramen. Zac said we have to start living on it now.

early retirement?
I don't think I can pull off early retirement as well as Zac has in his past.
Yesterday at about 9am our VP of Inventory Planning called 3 of the 4 of us left in shoe buying. I looked around for the 4th person of our team thinking we were going into a meeting but was quickly sent into the office. As soon as we walked in we knew what it was since the HR lady was sitting in there with packets with our names on it. It was an odd feeling, I thought this has to be a mistake but then I saw my name on the packet and I attempted to look at the other names on the packets.
Because of cash flow the company decided to shut down the shoe book. So they managed to call away the one remaining shoe buyer while they led the 3 of us into the slaughterhouse. They told us we could collect our things and they would appreciate if we would leave right away, we could come back later in the evening to collect the rest of our things. Probably 5 minutes later our VP came over and told us we needed to leave.
So we collected what we could and walked out and then waited outside to see who else would come out. We hear all in all 14 people were laid off, mainly people that had most of their job relating to the shoe book. Our severance pay was a measly 2 weeks compared to the people that were let go 2 years ago that received a weeks pay for every year they worked for the company and there were quite a few people that had worked there over 20 years. The two ladies that were let go in my department with me had both been there almost 30 years and they left the company with 2 weeks severance. Now that really sucks but at least they go something.
Rumors going around is that the parent company will try to file for bankruptcy....again....but they have to wait till next year. So our guess is that they might make it through the rest of this year and then perhaps they'll move this catalog business somewhere else or they'll close this portion down.
Even though we all knew this was coming I was preparing myself for a November layoff. So it came as quite a shock that it was yesterday. Overall though it wasn't surprising we knew it was coming for a couple years now, we were all just waiting for our time to be let go.
The hardest part is saying goodbye to these people that I've met and gotten to know so well these past would have been 6 years come November. My resume has been up on a couple job site places for a few weeks now but the only calls I've gotten are for insurance companies and one call from Dillards as a sales associate. I've applied for a couple jobs so far knowing that I probably wouldn't fully qualify so now it's on to find another job because I can't have Zac whoring himself on the streets even though I know he really wants to help me out!
Oh well....onto the next adventure of lame bosses and work drama!

all for kettlecorn
This morning one of my coworkers came in all huffy saying she was hungry. She was about to tackle a lady she saw walking down the hallway with breakfast in hand. She told us that McDonald's is no longer on her way to work now that she has to take her grandson to a different school. So if she wants to stop at Mickey D's she either has to double back to one location or go out of her way to get to another location. I looked at her and said "or you could eat breakfast before coming or bring breakfast like the rest of us do...you could bring frozen breakfast sandwiches and leave them in the freezer here..." Her response was a dirty look.
Or....I responded...you could bring cereal....or oatmeal....
After every suggestion she gave me that face.
She then disappeared for a few minutes and when she came back she asked if either I or my other coworker had a dollar she could borrow. She went to the vending machine and put her money in for kettlecorn but it got stuck. So my coworker MJ gave her a dollar and there went coworker number 1 back to the break room to try again. Only MJ jinxed her by saying it would probably get stuck again. It did. A minute later CW#1 comes back to tell MJ she had jinxed her. I asked CW#1 if she shook the vending machine and CW#1 said she did but she must not be very strong. So then MJ and CW#1 went back to the break room to get that kettlecorn.
Our cubicle isn't that far from the break room so I could pretty much hear them when they were in the break room. They started shaking the machine with no success. MJ then put in ANOTHER dollar and that bag got stuck too! So as they were shaking and finally successful the vending machine guy walks in and says "BUSTED!"
MJ doesn't stay in the break room much longer and starts laughing as CW#1 tells the vending machine guy the whole story. Vending machine guy says that the popcorn is in the wrong spot so then CW#1 starts yelling at him asking him why he put it in the wrong spot. Vending machine guys says he's not our regular vending machine guy. CW#1 is thoroughly embarrassed and walks out of the break room with 3 bags of kettlecorn.
Both coworkers come back laughing and telling me the story all over again and CW#1 gives me one of the bags of kettlecorn. A little while later MJ is in the break room again eating her breakfast of cheerios and as I go in to get some ice and water I check out the vending machine to see the offending spot that held the kettlecorn. The vending machine no longer has any kettlecorn!
I went back to my desk and looked at the kettlecorn bag and realized they expired last week!

dream journal
It appears that I'm remembering my dreams lately. Aside from that tramp Guggenmos trying to steal my man I've also had dreams about poison dart frogs and very specifically the yellow and black dart frogs. My dream book didn't have an entry about dart frogs but I'm assuming it means that my enemies will bake me poisoned chocolate cake.
Last night I had the dream that I lost my job, everyone was laid off and it was done. I think I've had this one a couple times now and even though we keep chugging along at work it seems like this one might become reality soon enough.

damn you guggenmos!
I had a dream the other night that Zac was studying with another student named Emily Guggenmos and at some point they picked me up. I was sitting in the front passenger seat, Emily was driving and Zac was sitting right behind me. While we were going who knows where I realized I liked this girl and thought she was pretty cool. During the drive, Emily was telling me how great Zac was and she reached back to grab Zac's hand. Well she didn't really let go and she kept holding his hand. We stopped at a bank and as Zac and I are waiting for Emily to finish her bank business I tell Zac that it's ok she's been holding his hand because it's very European.
ummmm...wtf?....
Oh and for those of you that don't live in Tucson...which would probably be everyone that reads this blog, Emily Guggenmos is a local newsperson and is married to another newscaster named Lou Raguse. His name makes me laugh.

they are in their 30's and they act like little brats
Back in college I became friends with 5 girls. We all came from different parts of the state and by hanging out with each over the years we moved to various places and have come to know each others families and friends.
A few years ago a friend of a friend got us all together for a homecoming for one of the 5 girls. During this outing we met more friends of friends and added them on facebook and so on.
Now three friends of friends that weren't even part of the original group are fighting. They are done with one of the girls. I liked that girl that they don't want to be friends with anymore. Now one of them has asked us not to be friends with that girl on facebook anymore.
It's all so dumb and immature and I think all three are to blame for their ridiculous relationships. AND I don't like being told who I can and can't be friends with. I've been through this before and it's all about communicating with how people hurt your feelings and how you discuss and approach it. Some people you aren't meant to be friends with but if you never talk about how you feel the other person will never know either.

i broke it
my laptop's fan is super loud. zac keeps telling me i broke it and that i break all technology or something like that. i'm hoping the geniuses at the store can fix it and i can have a quiet computer again.
my teeths of wisdom have been yanked out of my mouth. the anesthetic they gave me started wearing off and i felt the ripping of bone across my mouth. it hurt like a bitch. i'm not exactly sure what a bitch hurts like but i'm pretty sure that is how it felt. i was counting down the seconds to when i could take painkillers. afterwards i looked like someone tried to strangle me i was bruised all over my neck and face. it wasn't pretty. i still have pain in my lower jaw. and i'm still whining.
work is being dumb again.
the state is on fire. we can't go camping.
off to bed.

turns out i'm pretty damn good at watching tv
not that any of you had any doubts.
i really have nothing of importance to say but in hopes that some day someone reads my blog in wanting to figure out the real me they'll know that i excelled at watching tv and sucked at grammar and everything else.
this computer is pissing me off. i press the return button and it's like it ignores me. maybe it's apple's way of saying i'm not good enough to be using this computer. or it gets scared that i'm typing more than a facebook status. i'm making it work too hard.
not to change the subject or anything but i'm changing the subject now. i've decided to reread harry potter again...i had to emphasize that this isn't the first time reading the books. i'm on the 2nd book so far. i like to set small attainable goals for myself.
things that scare me....1...if i were to have a baby i'd be afraid that i wouldn't be able to hold it in the same position for longer than a couple minutes. the kid would be so uncomfortable with me. i'm sure nice people, and by that i mean girls, will say that will all change when you have your own kid and you'll never want to let go of your kid...blah blah blah....alls i know is that when daisy sits near me or puts her head on my lap i start to focus on it and then i want her off me. it's too much, my leg needs to move, i have an itch on my knee or all of sudden i really need to do something else. now don't take this as i want kids, it's just something i've thought about. b.....um...i'm bored with this section now.
for cinco de mayo we had nachos at work. even though i love nachos i found it a bit racist. i mean come on...at least they could give us some coronas and bean burritos and go all the way. no...instead we get nachos along with costco salsa and guacamole. don't half ass it, but in a way i guess it makes sense right....we're in america and we'll celebrate a mexican battle and call it mexico's independence day so that we can feel justified drinking mexican beers at happy hour when in mexico people don't even give a damn. but the best part of it is that we also celebrated once de mayo. since our traveling president couldn't celebrate cinco de mayo with us our hr dept decided to host a sonoran dog lunch. before you get all jealous or upset because this is even more racist now....just you wait....our sonoran hotdogs were delivered via roachcoach and we had tables set out under the parking structure so we had shade. oh yeah baby we were ghetto! we brought the southside to an eastside parking lot just so our president could try a sonoran hotdog. i'm still convinced he was too afraid to travel to the southside by himself.
there is a farty mcfartster in the living room and i'm pretty sure when he says he's sorry-he's lying.
and on that note i'll say adieu.

why must people share?
I hate people that share their email addresses, facebook pages, and other stuff that people share for no good reason.
Really....how hard is it to create two different email addresses?
And why do couples need to share a facebook page? Absolutely pointless.

the death of a celebrity
This morning while checking out my email, fb, and the news I saw that people started posting that Elizabeth Taylor had passed away. I checked the news and read about it and then I thought how all day people are going to post about it. It's kind of like people need to tell others that they know what's going on. So then am I just doing the same thing by posting it here...hmmm....whatever. Then I read some comments about how sad her passing is and how she will truly be missed and I started thinking what impact celebrities have on the regular people.
I know Elizabeth Taylor led a full long life in the Hollywood spotlight. I'm sure I've seen a movie of hers and I've read about all her legendary marriages but honestly when I think of how I remember her it's when she was always pictured by Michael Jackson's side and her White Diamond commercials. Especially her White Diamond commercials because I remember thinking it must be cool so I should get it for my mom.
While it's sad in one way it's kind of a blessing that she died when she was old and grey and not as a young starlet. She had so many health issues it's not like she was going to live forever. I guess these are just my ramblings this a.m.

What FB needs
Facebook needs a family page and Friends page.
That way you can still see what your family is up to but write all the fun stuff just for your friends.

I got drunk tonight and it's all Dan's fault
we went to BJ's tonight...yeah yeah make your jokes. i wanted a drink and i wanted the drink that dan got the last time he was down in tucson. i ordered the one i thought it was and turns out it wasn't it. instead i got the most evil rootbeer in the world and it tried to kill me.
after trying to down the drink so i didn't waste perfectly good alcohol i got wwwaayyyy buzzed and still am at this moment. typing this blog is actually quite fun. after i finished the drink i was ok for a couple minutes then i got so hot i thought i was on fire then i had this weird pain in left shoulder and i definitely thought i was going to die. then i felt like i coulnd't breathe and all i wanted to do is throw up. i started walking around outside the front of the restaurant and the cool night air seemed to help. on the way home i still wanted to die....turns out zac is really nice when i'm drunk and wanting to die. as soon as i got in the house i changed into my pj's, zac got me some water and instantly i felt way better.
so yeah it's all dan's fault.

A great thing about Facebook is connecting with old acquaintances. I recently friended Dumbass Guy because I remembered him from high school and talked to him quite frequently. Turns out when I friended him he and his wife were separating because she cheated on him. I know all this because Dumbass Guy and Bitchy Girl have written out all their fights on facebook. I know when they miss each other and when they hate each other. I know when the girl has had another guy over and I know when Bitchy Girl is jealous of other girls on Dumbass Guy's friend list. Within a days time both of these people have gone through every single emotion possible and have written it all down for everyone to see and read.
Although I enjoy reading the misery of others, sometimes it gets a little old. These people obviously like drama and they love creating it. It's hard for me to give advice on this because honestly facebook isn't exactly the best place for that kind of communication but we all do this in one way or another whether it be gossiping at work or writing blogs so I guess my main point is that if you don't want to look like a complete fool in front of all your facebook friends then I would keep the dirty laundry at home and off the internets.

facebook etiquette 101-parents
A friend and I at work have talked about writing a book on facebook etiquette. We tell each other the craziest stuff we read on facebook and have a good laugh while we are supposed to be working.
We are both guilty of using facebook to find out more information on people we don't actually speak to in real life. We look up old friends/co-workers, their moms and their sisters. No one is safe. While we do our share of facebook stalking we feel like we aren't overly obnoxious in our own postings. So far there are a few things we think people need to remember while facebooking.
Parents are probably the most in need of some facebook etiquette. I think the most common annoyance is the comment to every post.
The occasional comment is nice and fine but when your mom is the one that posts the most comments on your wall then something is weird.
The other day I was looking at a coworkers new pic and reading the comments. This coworker was graced by god to have an enormous rack and she was proudly showing it off in her picture with a low cut Raider's shirt. A friend of hers wrote "Boo, put those away!" The coworkers mom put "You're just jealous" followed by a later comment "don't worry someday you'll get some". While I found the whole thing comical how embarrassing to have your mom defend your boobs!
Another weird thing parents do is friend request your friends that they may have only met once. It almost seems pervy sometimes. I think it would be ok if your friend has been around for a long time then it's like that friend is a part of the family but when your father friends your single friend that is a girl that he's only met once then it's way weird! (Note: not talking about my dad, he's not even on facebook)
It's also interesting what parents think is cool enough to post on your wall. One post I saw recently said "Have you heard this song by .....? The girls were jamming to it earlier." Who says jamming anymore? I was reading one of those failblogs about a mom sending a message to her kid saying something like "uncle dave died....lol". The mom thought LOL meant Lots of Love. Hahah!
I'm sure there was more stuff I wanted to post but I'm sleepy now.

that'll fix that
I told someone that it smelled like farts in the house and as I was saying that it was worthless buying air freshening devices that someone walks over to said air freshener, opens it up some more and places it on the table next to me.
That actually worked. I can definitely smell After the Rain. It's quite pleasant. I think I will carry the air freshener around whenever we are together.

cheesy cheese cheese
today was another long day. i'm getting sick of this working thing. i'm ready for a daycation to notworksville. i started my super busy day getting ready for a vendor meeting and once i got my reports printed i started working on my review. my review that we had a couple weeks to work on that was due today. my review that i hadn't even started on. in half an hour i rambled on about my strengths and i may have written how i had to work on a lot of reports that were pointless...i might not get that raise this year...oh well.
i then went to my vendor meeting where we went over my reports and talked about work stuff. big plus about this vendor is the swag. i have a new lunch bag...yippee!
after ripping off some heads by yelling at some innocent passersby i went to lunch with my vendor. we went to dakota cafe and i ordered the chicken enchiladas....ugh....so much cheese.....barf. the key lime pie was delish. the vendor i had today is hilarious. she comes off as a dumb type but it's just a cover. she's really the life of the party. today she was telling us about how one of her clients recently had to close up shop and when they were talking my vendor asked her client what she was going to do after closing her business. her client told her that she writes romance novels. the vendor asked what some of her books are because maybe she's read some or she can look them up. turns out the client writes erotic novels and she was too embarrassed to tell the vendor what the titles were. the client probably uses an alias but still how random to find out that someone you worked with writes super trashy novels.
i don't know how old the client is but in my mind i picture a little old lady that is the sweet grandmotherly type selling shoes by day and writing hot and steamy novels at night.
oh to live the life.
