Equality for the gays

This pic took over facebook today.  While I wholeheartedly support  gay marriage I couldn't change my picture.

I have this weird thing about me that while I completely support this cause I haven't really done much in any other way to support gay marriage other than boycott certain businesses like Chick Fila. Even though it's just a picture I just would feel like I'm joining the bandwagon without having anything to really back it up.

All I know is that homosexuals and heterosexuals should marry as they please.  I don't know how people can base this solely on religion and be ok with that decision.  I don't know how people can say "because it says so in the bible"....well there's a lot of stuff in that bible...and people seem ok with themselves to pick and choose what they want to follow. The Catholic Church is against gay marriage while priests are taking advantage of little boys or have gay lovers on the side.  How is this just?  How is it just to say that marriage is for procreation when gay couples are more than willing to raise the children straight people put up for adoption?  How is it just to say we don't know the outcome of gay couples on children because we only have 5 or so years of data when straight couples have been fucking up children for centuries (and I'm pretty sure there is a ton of data to support that)?

And for the religious that feel that they are being pressured to change their beliefs, guess what...shit changes...you don't follow everything in the bible word for word, each church and person decides what they should follow and as time goes by beliefs change because it just isn't feasible anymore. But yet religious scholars say that interpretations have changed instead of saying they changed their mind and decided something was ok.

All I know is that if I were gay and in a committed relationship I would want to get married to my partner not only because I feel marriage is a special bond between people but also so that I can receive the rights that go along with it.  Face it....insurance benefits and taxes...are all perks (or downfalls) of being married and it's not fair to deny gay couples from these right either.

No more romance!

I'm done with the 28 days of heartsy farts.  I only made it to 20 and then I gave up.

All I know is that the movies I enjoyed the most were the ones that did not involve cheating.

It's on to watching Charmed!

I did finish Numbers!  And I got my wish Diane Farr left!

Day 20-Conception (2011)

This is another one of those films where you follow different couples around and learn their story but this one was much better than Playing By Heart.  It was all about the different ways these couples lead up to the night/moment they first conceive.

It was actually pretty funny and heartwarming and eventually there is a lot of sex....even the passing of man juice into lady parts via turkey baster or something a little more scientific.

I enjoyed this movie a lot and the romance of it is seen more in a few couples.

I even think men might enjoy watching this one.

Day 19--Funny Face (1957)

I decided to try another Audrey Hepburn movie, this time one I hadn't seen before. Funny Face also stars Fred Astaire which means singing and dancing! It wasn't so bad, in fact I enjoyed it much more than Breakfast At Tiffany's.

I especially enjoyed the whole beatnik scene, picture hipsters wearing all black, snapping their fingers like in West Side Story along to some poetry and bongo beats.

But in the end there was a love story between Astaire and Hepburn and it was sweet.

Day 18--My Best Friend's Wedding (1997)

Damn it! I forgot Cameron Diaz was in this one! Although she's pretty young in this film and not as annoying as she is in her later films when she supposedly developed her craft.

Julia Roberts and Dermot Mulroney are long time best pals that had a pact that if neither of them got married by the time they turned 30 or some junk they would marry each other.  Well shit just got real and to Julia's surprise Dermot is about to get married soon to Diaz.  Julia is determined to break up this wedding so that she can have Dermot all to herself.

You got to give it to Julia though she's pretty deceitful in this movie and only she can bring those little half shirts to the big screen like no other.

I need time to get the songs out of my head...Wishin' and Hopin...and...I'll Say A Little Prayer.

Day 17--Comes a Bright Day (2012)

This is one of those British films where a proper young gentleman tries to woo the local shop girl but in the mean time he gets caught in a jewelry heist where he has ample time to get to know the girl.

The robber has a horrible stutter, the shopkeeper is Peter Pettigrew (for you HP nerds) and the young man in love is cute as a button.

Other than the occasional killing during the jewelry heist it wasn't very action packed.  I think it was just very British.  I liked the movie probably a little more than I needed to after watching all the shit I've been watching.

Day 16--Tyler Perry's Good Deeds (2012)

This is the first Tyler Perry movie I have watched.  I've never had a desire to watch any before and probably won't ever need to watch any other ones because I'm pretty sure they all follow the same formula.  There was a lot of anger in this movie.  Anger against the man, anger against the establishment and anger for being oppressed.

Yet the characters all created their own shitty drama so I didn't feel sorry for any of them.  Not even the sob story the poor single mother, and also the janitor at Deeds Corporation, gives to Mr. Deeds (Tyler Perry).  It all made me want to throw a shoe at the TV.

But there was a blast from the past with Phylicia Rashad playing the mom. I haven't seen her since The Cosby Show days.

Day 15--The Wedding Planner (2001)

Oh Jennifer Lopez.....

Yes these type of movies are my guilty pleasure. Girl is unlucky in love, has a chance meeting with the man of her dreams and then finds out he's not exactly available.

Mary (Jennifer Lopez) is a wedding planner with the chance to work with a high profile client.  Of course as a wedding planner you'd want to know every single detail about the couple getting married.  So the fact that you don't even know who the groom is....well that just makes you a bad wedding planner.

Matthew McConaughey is a little too sweet in this role.  I like him more when he's a bit pervy like his role in Dazed and Confused.
