We had reservations for 5:30 on Saturday afternoon at Sur Real and not knowing how casual it is we dressed up in our grown up clothes. Once at the restaurant we were promptly seated by the window, in fact our window was the one below the S. We had a wonderful view of the city lights.
For an appetizer we ordered the Hot Stone. It was very cool to get a large plate with a rock sizzling at 500 degrees. We were given another little plate that had a few pieces of thinly cut meat that we could cook on the rock. I think Zac had fun with that! For our entrees I ordered the chimichurri steak and Zac ordered the Latin American sampler and for dessert we ordered the creme brulee flan.
We had a lot of fun ordering and were very surprised at the end of the meal when the manager told our waiter that our meal was on the house. After we left the tip we asked our waiter if we could meet the manager. The manager is quite young and he was really cool.
I highly recommend going here if you are looking for something different. They also do late night stuff like dj night and salsa night. The manager also happens to be VP of small chain of restaurants here in town. I've only been to 2 out of 3 but so far I'd have to say Sam Hughes Place Championship Dining has to be my favorite and yes that was also a free meal thanks to a vendor lunch.
