solid as barack

What an election! I voted during the last election but I honestly don't remember much about it. This time things were different and opinions changed.

I like John McCain and I think he is an amazing guy I was considering him at one point as our best choice then I felt like his campaign took a turn. The point of no return was when he chose Sarah Palin as his running mate. There was so much about her that I didn't agree with.

For a while I also was interested in Hilary Clinton. I think like other people I wanted to go back to the years of Bill Clinton. I wanted to erase the years of W. But when it came down to vote for the democratic nomination I went for Barack.

This is the first time I have ever paid close attention to the election coverage. This is the first time I was listening to every news clip and searching online for anything I could find on the candidates. This is the first time I had long in depth conversations about politics with friends and family. This is the first time I actually cared about the propositions and to some degree understood them. This is the first time (because I didn't get my early ballot) I walked into a polling place on election day. This is the first time I was glued to all the coverage and actually got scared at the beginning when results slowly came in.

John McCain's concession speech was reminiscent of what he sounded like before and it made me sad that he couldn't run a campaign his way. Obama's speech was encouraging not only because of the words he was saying but because of the culturally diverse audience he was addressing. I was proud to see the melting pot come out in full force and stand up for change.

I agree. 8 years ago I was so in-love with the idea of a McCain presidency and then I was crushed when the nominations went to W. I thought he would be great this time around until he started pandering to the republican base.
