the big office move

we've been ready for this big move for a while. we knew it was coming. we still weren't prepared.

the past week we have been packing. the moving company provided us with totes. we thought we were on a roll. this morning we started off our morning like any other normal morning. we knew we had one last day to pack and so we'd try to get as much done before packing up the last few things and taking apart our computers. while im browsing through various reports and emails our VP is frantically trying to pack up whatever she can in our area.

then 8am hits and about 10-15 guys come strolling into our area checking out our stacks of totes to be moved. someone says the guys are going to take what we have already packed. oh....ok thats cool. 5 minutes later i hear....the guys are taking everything in shoes, we were bumped up a day! the IT guy will be coming around to unplug computers. take the computers in your cars.

oh shit.

i still have to pack my files, catalogs and computer stuff. my cube mate the assistant had to finish packing her cube as well as her buyers cube since the buyer was in training all day. so as i was rushing to finish my cube the totes ran out and we had to go find boxes. once my stuff was packed i started helping my cubemate. she had a ton of shoes that needed to be packed into boxes since the movers wouldn't take totes without tops. so we had an assembly line of people making boxes while lucy and I went up and down to the sample room grabbing the leftover shoes and bringing them back downstairs while others packed the shoes and taped and labeled. even with air conditioning we were drenched in sweat. then we had to pack all the cars with more totes and computers. in 2 hours we pretty much had everything packed and ready to go. we were then told to head over to the new building and unpack our computers and get them ready for IT to connect again. So we get to the new building and there is only one tiny elevator so we had to lug our stuff up the stairs to our new cubicles. not fun when the totes are packed to the brim. again we were all drenched in sweat.

finally, once we had unpacked all the cars we had to wait for our totes to be delivered. so slowly we spent the next two hours unpacking and finding out we need more room for all our crap!

by noon we were all pretty much unpacked and starving! so glad its over!
