it feels good to waste time on the internets again. this past weekend has been quite hectic with some very good and not so great things happening.
monday i found out that quite a few people were laid off from work. with a new company taking over and the state of the economy i guess it was inevitable but when you have never been through this before its a pretty heavy thing to deal with. the past couple days its been very odd at work. there are a lot of good people missing. when you spend most of your day with these people they feel like family and losing them hurts just as much. i guess its a sign that you can never get too comfy in one spot. the days of loyalty and staying at the same job forever is something of the past. this whole thing makes me feel like getting the resume updated and ready to go just in case.
so other than that its been a pretty good weekend. last thursday we received keys to our new to us house. since then we have been packing up the old house and moving. we've been shopping for appliances and visiting home depot and lowe's like every other day. its starting to feel like home as i unpack and put things away but it still feels like another rental home sometimes. that feeling slowly fades away as we have to buy stuff like fuses and new locks for all the doors. i must admit i liked using the drill the other day. is that dirty? um.... so anyway. i think daisy is happy. she has more yard to run around and go crazy in. there are plenty of lizards for zac to chase. what makes me happy? probably all the shopping lists started in my head and the shoe closet zac said he'll build for me. oh no wait that is from sex in the city. i think the virgin mary bench in the front yard makes me happy. i really want to tell the security companies that keep hounding zac that we don't need a security system because not only do we have daisy (she can pee on burglars and gross them out) but we also have a virgin mary bench. no thief will cross the virgin mary...she will kick some ass if somebody messes with her. at least i like to think that.
