I finally received my W-2 and the 1098-E form from my student loan. So yesterday on my day off I did my taxes ala TurboTax free efiling. I'm not getting a whole lot...but some.
So then I started thinking about if this Stimulus Package passes where people can get rebate checks and I could probably get up to $600 back according to Bush's plan or up $500 back if Baucus' stimulus package goes through, well either way that would be awesome. But then now where are they getting this money from? Are they borrowing it from other countries? Are they just saying just tack this on to our tab? Then I thought, well what about next years taxes? Will I have to claim the rebate check? Then will I have to owe the IRS money? Oh what a headache. Alls I know is if I do indeed get a check it's going straight to savings and NOT to a big screen tv like a certain boy I live with wants.

It is your patriotic duty to buy a big screen TV. Thats why they give us the money. To spend it. Freedom isnt free you know. They only have to be right once.
they want you to spend it... thats the only reason the "poor" people are getting it and not the richie riches of the world. "Give it to the people who'll spend it right away, boosting the economy to bring in more demand for jobs and hired help"
am I complaining? hell no! I gotta shell out 700 dollars to put my kid into preschool this fall, that money is definitely a small little blessing for us.
so go ahead and spend it all right away! =)
I know they want us to spend it right away. They hope buy throwing all this money to people it will give our economy a quick boost. It probably will and I'm sure more than enough people will spend their money quickly. I really want to start saving for a house so thats why I want to save it for now.
It's funny because most of the "consumers" out there are planning to save that money, or, pay down their debts they've accumulated through this financially assy year we've all had. I really don't think their plan to boost the economy is going to happen and I'm going to laugh...
btw, where this money all came from was the moneys that went missing since bush took over in office. (speculation)
